Land Use Award - 2008: Somerset County

Somerset County presents LGA Engineering, a Birdsall Services Group Company, with Land Use Award

At the 25th annual Land Development and Planning Awards, the Somerset County Planning Board recognized LGA Engineering for its role in the design and development of Canal Crossing, a mixed use development with residential condominiums and commercial / retail buildings in South Bound Brook, NJ.

LGA provided surveying, engineering, landscape architecture, and permitting services for the 13-acre site.  They successfully obtained NJDEP water, sewer and stream encroachment permits as well as approval from the Delaware & Raritan Canal Commission and local agencies.  LGA worked closely with the developer and a remediation consultant to construct the site infrastructure over a deed-restricted soil cap.

The $45,000,000mixed-use development consists of 152 condominiums with commercial and retail buildings.  In addition, the project includes a refurbished pedestrian bridge affording public access to the D&R Canal State Park.

The completion of this project and revitalization of this site has sparked additional community improvement in the way of downtown streetscape changes that include new benches, street lighting, sidewalks, and decorative pavers.
