Global Terminal Port

Bayonne, New Jersey

LGA prepared a topographic and hydrographic survey of the 350+ acre pier in Bayonne, NJ for the reconfiguration of the terminal and design of a new berth along the south channel. With the help of the LGA Global Positioning System (GPS) Survey Division, we established precise horizontal and vertical control and aerial photo control; and recorded the locations of existing ground features, including building outlines, roadways, guard booths, curbs, fences, bollards, high-mast lighting poles, road striping and utilities.

A topographic survey was prepared by photographic methods from aerial photography which allowed LGA to provide our client with color, ortho-rectified photography as a data layer on an AutoCAD drawing and as a geo-referenced electronic image file. In anticipation of the need for future dredging of the channel, the LGA Hydrographic Survey Division used interfacing precision survey-quality echosounders, hydrographic survey software and real-time GPS capabilities to perform a hydrographic survey that will satisfy all regulatory requirements of the NJ Department of Environmental Protection and the US Army Corps of Engineers.

Mapping was produced electronically and delivered to our client in both electronic (AutoCAD) and hard-copy formats with detailing mapping requirements as specified in National Map Accuracy Standards.
